CELEBRATE LAW DAY 2023
Law Day is celebrated annually across Canada. Local activities celebrating the law including the OBA-OJEN Competitive Mock Trials competition, as well as an Open House at the Thunder Bay Consolidated Courthouse on Brodie Street.
Due to the covid pandemic, we had to cancel the 2020, 2021 & 2022 Law Day events. Listed below are the events to be held in 2023.
Secondary School Mock Trial Competition – April 14, 2023 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm
On Friday, April 14th, the Secondary School Mock Trial Competition is scheduled to take place in Courtroom #205. The public is invited to watch the competition between the high school teams from St. Patrick High School, Westgate Collegiate and Vocational Institute, St. Ignatius High School, and Hammarskjold High School. In 2019 the winning team, St. Ignatius, was added to the to the Justice Wright Law Day Cup – good luck to the this year’s teams in the competition! Thank you to all the students who participate, and to the lawyers who volunteer their time to guide and mentor the students in this annual event and make Law Day a success.
Thunder Bay Consolidated Courthouse Open House – April 17, 2023 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm
The Thunder Bay Law Association invites the public to 125 Brodie Street N. to stroll through the consolidated courthouse on a guided tour. The tour will include courtrooms on the first and second floors, TBLA Library/Lounge and more. Members of the local judiciary and the Bar will be participating in this event and remember – this is always free event!
