Law Day

Law Day is celebrated annually across Canada.  Local activities celebrating the law including the OBA-OJEN Competitive Mock Trials competition, as well as an Open House at the Thunder Bay Consolidated Courthouse on Brodie Street.

Due to the covid pandemic, we had to cancel the 2020, 2021 & 2022 Law Day events.  Below is what was planned in 2020 and what we hope will be similar events to be held in 2023.

Secondary School Mock Trial Competition – April 3, 2020 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm

On Friday, April 3rd, the Secondary School Mock Trial Competition scheduled to take place in Courtroom #205 was cancelled. We hope to be able to invite the public back to watch the competition in 2022.   In 2019 the winning team,  St. Ignatius, was added to the to the Justice Wright Law Day Cup! Thank you to all the students who  participate, and to the lawyers who  volunteer their time to guide and mentor the students in this annual event.

Thunder Bay Consolidated Courthouse Open House – April 7, 2020 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm

The Thunder Bay Law Association had to cancel the invitation to the public to 125 Brodie Street N. to stroll through the consolidated courthouse. We hope to have the local judiciary and members of the Bar on hand  in 2022 when this event will be offered again!   This is always free event!
